More than ever before, organizations are deploying networks to move data and access on-line systems between Head Offices and
their Branch Offices and Business Partners. The data is a valuable resource that must be protected to safeguard business
continuity and integrity.
Security using Firewall and Access Control Systems
allow or
block access to an organization's networks and systems based
upon pre-defined rules. Various software "tools" are available that can allow an outsider to satisfy the rules, thus
gaining access to the network. A higher level of security is needed.
Also, almost all organizations provide their employees with access to Internet browsing which is intended to be used for
business purposes. Too frequently, employees can abuse their privilege and utilize Internet access for personal and
inappropriate use. Loss of productivity is a major concern as well as misused bandwidth and liability issues.
Intrusion detection and prevention systems monitor networks and systems for suspicious activity and notify the network manager
and/or nullify the attack.
These systems also include Anti-virus and Anti-Spyware, Anti-Phishing and can protect against viruses, worms, Trojans and other
malicious threats.
Content Filtering systems allow organizations to monitor and control the Internet browsing of the employees. Inappropriate use
and content can be controlled to enhance productivity and network utilization.
